Hope this update finds you well.
The Pointe Estero Condominium
Association held the required annual meeting on December
5th of 2008, preceded by an owner’s cocktail
party the night before.

No elections of board members were necessary, for at the
time of the annual meeting mailings, 2 terms were
expiring and no owners came forward with an interest in
applying for the seats. Don Fluegal and Alice Bell
graciously agreed to stay on for an additional term.
Subsequent to that mailing, another seat was made vacant
by the resignation of Jim Groenewald. The board
unanimously agreed to appoint Dr. Thomas Janik to fill
the remainder of his term.
It was also decided
through owner’s votes to:
Other action
included a needed change in the condominium documents.
As suggested by our rental committee, out dated verbiage
that conflicts with Federal Discrimination Laws has been
replaced with language that not only will allow us to
comply with these laws, but also do away with
restrictions that would not allow two married couples to
occupy the same units.
The verbiage:
“No one but the
lessee or tenant and his family within the first
degree of relationship by blood, adoption or
marriage may occupy the unit”
Has been replaced
with:
“Owners who
lease their units shall not discriminate on the
grounds of race, age, gender, religion, sexual
orientation, national origin or physical or mental
handicap.”
This also takes
away the burden of the front office staff and individual
owners having to determine if occupants comply with the
previous language.
As the new year
starts to unfold, the managers and staff at the Pointe
Estero realize the challenges we face with the
uncertainty of the current global economy. It is our
intent to take every opportunity to maximize revenues
and control expenditures to insure our bottom-lines, in
the condo association and the rental program, are as
efficient as possible.
