Welcome! It’s winter at last and we are
definitely enjoying the cooler weather! It was a great autumn
and thankfully hurricane free. Our quieter, slower season is now
coming to an end and we are preparing for a wonderful holiday
season!
The Board
of Directors’ Preliminary Budget Review Meeting was held on
October 11th. A preliminary budget was drawn up and will be
considered and voted on at the Annual Meeting.
The Park Shore Annual Homeowners Meeting
will be held on December 6th at 9:30 am in the Park Shore Resort
lobby. Major topics will include the potential development of
the areas near the tennis courts and retention pond and wind
insurance. Reserve items such as decorative lighting for the
entrance, and barbecue grill replacement. Two board members are
to be elected, filling the seats currently held by Don Steele
and Jeffrey Saunders. Any homeowner may run for election to the
Board of Directors. If you are interested in being a candidate
for these positions, please submit the Candidate for Election to
the Board of Directors Form, which was mailed to all owners at
the end of September. At the same time owners also received
profit and loss statements, and a copy of financial statements
with balances through July 31st. We look forward to seeing
you at the December meeting, but if you are unable to attend,
please be sure to mail in your proxies.
The grounds have never looked better and
landscaping is a priority right now! Mulching will be done at
the beginning of November and winter plantings for color will
follow soon after. Look for the entrance and lobby areas to be
especially colorful. We are seeing that many of the trees and
plants damaged by Wilma and Charlie are recovering! Our
tabebuia trees are looking much like they did before hurricane
damage and should be showing those vivid yellow blooms soon.
The combination of a plentiful rainy season and lack of major
storms has been good for all the trees and foliage!
The spa heater was recently replaced. Other
recent projects include improving the back outside lobby area.
The benches in this area are being refinished and taken to their
natural color and we have also added several stylish smoking “centers.”
Our guests’ comments continue to be positive and provide
excellent feedback. To share a few:
-
“Beautiful decor well done… very
comfortable rooms”
-
“We had a wonderfully relaxing and
comfortable stay - .you get kudos for cleanliness. I
was very impressed”
-
“Can’t wait to return…a home away from
home”
-
“The pond bridges and walkways are very
calming and beautiful…”
-
“Tropical paradise with birds,
shrubbery, water….”
Congratulations to David Kidd! Previously
employed by Sunstream as our in - house painter, David has
obtained his painting contractors’ license. David will now have
the opportunity to bid on upcoming projects on a contract
basis. His first project will be painting the interiors of
rental units.
Refurbishment
The 2006 refurbishment is in progress, with
the painting of interiors already begun. The in room safes will
be installed in the last week of October and the lanai carpeting
installation begins on December 1st.
We are looking forward to an
extremely successful season—owners and guests alike have
commented favorably on the many improvements we have made. We
are looking for other projects as we keep improving! We look
forward to welcoming you back on your next visit and I hope that
everyone has a safe and happy Holiday season!
