Welcome! Another great season is over here at Park Shore
and summer is definitely on the horizon. We’re looking
forward to a very busy and productive time as projects
throughout the property come to completion and we look
for other ways we can improve.
The Board of
Directors has successfully obtained wind insurance for
the property and Brown and Brown will be acting agents
for the plan. The policy went into effect April 1st, and
carries liability limits up to $5 million dollars.
Our next Board meeting will be held
in July of this year. We will update you with
scheduling details as they become available.
With summer almost here and with so
many of our owners away, we would like to ask your help
to make sure that any mail we receive here is forwarded
to your home address. Because this is our busiest mail
time, please keep us updated with any special mailing
requests and instructions.
Progress continues all around the
property as we continue to focus on the grounds, pool
area and gazebo. New plantings of Lantanas are being
done to replace the Impatiens near the lobby, on the
island and elsewhere throughout the property. The
Lantanas are not quite as colorful as the Impatiens, but
are much hardier and able to withstand the summer heat.
The Tabebuia trees have been in gorgeous full bloom and
exceptionally spectacular this year. Questions about
these trees are among the most often asked by guests at
Park Shore. The yellow Tabebuia tree is native to
Brazil and is also called the Tree of Gold or the Golden
Trumpet Tree. The Tabebuia, which is closely related to
the Flame Vine and Jacaranda, can also be found in
beautiful shades of pink and purple in addition to the
vibrant yellow variety we have here at Park Shore.

Lake water levels are still low, but
with the start of rainy season just around the corner,
they should recover quickly. The irrigation heads
throughout the grounds have been re-worked to prevent
browning of foliage since this spring has been unusually
dry.
Many improvements have been completed
to our pool and its environs. We now have a new
auto-chemical feeder and have replaced one of the water
heaters. The pool deck is also sporting new furniture
and the gazebo area is getting its share of attention
too - new tile tops in the bar area and in the three
cook stations. New grills have also been ordered and
will be in place by the summer. Please be sure to check
out the gazebo area on your next visit to see its
improvements.
Congratulations
to Edil Sanchez, who celebrates eight years at Park
Shore Resort on June 15th. As our Head Groundskeeper,
Edil is primarily responsible for the landscaping of the
property’s thirteen acres and what a great job he
does! Edil loves everything about plants, flowers and
trees and takes great pride in his work. Originally
from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, Edil enjoys soccer, Bible
reading and attending church when he is not hard at
work. We are very proud of Edil and his many
accomplishments.
The 2006 refurbishment projects are
close to completion. The in-room safes are in place and
everyone has been enjoying them. The lanai carpet
installation will be completed by the end of April and
the painting of the condo interiors is ongoing and
should be done by June. This will finalize the 2006
refurbishment program. No new projects are planned for
2007 and 2008.
Our game room and vending machines
continue to be a viable revenue source. Year-to-date,
the game room has generated $457.25 and the vending
machines have added another $1212.70!
Our most recent comment cards have shown very
positive guest response:
To share a few:
- “beautiful property – an oasis in the middle of
the city…”
- “Exceeded our expectations…perfect! We felt
right at home! Couldn’t have asked for more…”
- “I think you do a wonderful job—gets better
every time…”
- “Good Experience - first time visit- will be
back!”
- "The grounds continue to be more beautiful over
the 20 years that we have come here …”
Summer is a great
time to visit Park Shore Resort. Please come down for a
visit and enjoy our warm weather. We’ll be here working
hard to ensure that the property is looking its best for
your next visit!
